About Slash

Slash, born Saul Hudson on July 23, 1965, in Stoke-on-Trent, England, is celebrated as one of hard rock’s most influential and technically gifted guitarists. Raised in a creative household—his mother designed costumes for David Bowie’s *The Man Who Fell to Earth*, and his father crafted album artwork for Neil Young and Joni Mitchell—Slash moved to Hollywood as a youth. There, he first picked up the guitar and formed early bands with Steven Adler, who would become Guns N’ Roses’ drummer.

Slash rose to international fame as the iconic lead guitarist of Guns N’ Roses, a band whose gritty sound and wild energy redefined late 1980s rock. Their 1987 debut, *Appetite for Destruction*, launched hits like "Sweet Child o’ Mine," while the 1991 dual albums *Use Your Illusion I* and *Use Your Illusion II* further cemented their legacy. Slash’s trademark look—wild black curls, a top hat, and a cigarette dangling from his lips—became synonymous with the band’s rebellious spirit. Creative differences with frontman Axl Rose, however, led to Slash’s departure in 1996.

Following Guns N’ Roses, Slash formed Slash’s Snakepit, releasing *It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere* (1995) and *Ain’t Life Grand* (2000). He later co-founded Velvet Revolver with former bandmate Duff McKagan and Stone Temple Pilots’ Scott Weiland, producing the acclaimed album *Contraband* (2004). Launching a solo career in 2010, Slash collaborated with legends like Ozzy Osbourne and Chris Cornell before partnering with vocalist Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators on *Apocalyptic Love* (2012) and *World on Fire* (2014). In 2016, Slash reunited with Guns N’ Roses for the hugely successful *Not in This Lifetime* tour, continuing his enduring influence on rock music across blues, hard rock, and heavy metal genres.
