About Sergio Dawi

Sergio Dawi is a celebrated Argentine saxophonist and keyboardist, best known for his influential fourteen-year role in the legendary rock band Patricio Rey y sus Redonditos de Ricota. His innovative approach to music helped shape the sound of Argentine rock during the 1980s and 1990s. In the 1990s, Dawi co-founded the avant-garde performance duo Dosaxos2, an experimental project that combined scenic elements with daring musical exploration, leaving a lasting impact on the Latin American cultural scene.

Venturing beyond his early success, Sergio Dawi established his own band, Dawi y los Estrellados, releasing three albums featuring his original compositions: the self-titled debut "Dawi y los Estrellados" (2004), "Quijotes al ajillo" (2008), and "Jaqueados" (2017). As a solo artist, he further pushed creative boundaries with innovative multimedia shows such as "VideoSaxMachine," merging saxophone virtuosity with striking visual artistry, and "SEMIDAWI," a collaborative performance with bassist Semilla Bucciarelli. These projects toured extensively across Argentina, Uruguay, and Ecuador, cementing his reputation as a multifaceted performer.

Beyond live performances, Dawi has composed film scores and collaborated with renowned artists like Phil Manzanera, Vapors of Morphine, Ramiro Musotto, and La Bomba de Tiempo. His artistic versatility extends into experimental sound art, contributing to sound sculptures by León Ferrari. Through decades of bold experimentation and collaboration, Sergio Dawi remains a pivotal figure in Latin American music, continuously blending tradition with cutting-edge creativity.
