About Orphaned Land

Orphaned Land, formed in Israel in 1991, stands as a groundbreaking force in the metal world, credited with pioneering the genre known as "Oriental metal." Led by vocalist Kobi Farhi, the band skillfully blends heavy metal with Middle Eastern musical traditions, crafting a sound that transcends cultural and religious boundaries. Over more than three decades, Orphaned Land has released five conceptually rich albums, each exploring themes of peace, unity, and hope, which have resonated deeply with fans worldwide—including those across the Arab world, a rare achievement in the region’s complex cultural landscape.

Their 2018 album, "Unsung Prophets & Dead Messiahs," marked a pinnacle of artistic maturity, drawing philosophical inspiration from Plato and historical nonviolent revolutionaries. This ambitious work features illustrious collaborations with prog-rock legend Steve Hackett (Genesis), metal icons Hansi Kürsch (Blind Guardian), and Tomas Lindberg (At The Gates), demonstrating Orphaned Land’s commitment to blending diverse musical influences. The band’s relentless innovation and humanitarian message earned them the prestigious Metal Hammer UK’s "Global Metal" award in 2014, cementing their place among the most influential international metal acts.
