About Güner Künier

Güner Künier, born in Izmir, Turkey, in 1990, grew up in Flensburg, Germany, after moving there with her family at the age of three. Her multicultural upbringing deeply influenced her artistic voice, which took root during her teenage years performing with various bands. Although she graduated with a degree in industrial engineering from Berlin, Künier ultimately chose to pursue a creative path, balancing careers as both an actress and a musician.

In the early 2020s, she launched her solo music career with the release of her debut album "Aşk" (2020), followed by an EP in 2021. These works introduced her as a distinctive presence in alternative and indie music scenes. Künier's sound is notable for its dynamic blend of post-punk energy and minimal synth-wave textures, enriched by shoegaze atmospheres, krautrock experimentation, and the defiant spirit of riot grrrl.

Her highly anticipated second album, "Yaramaz," scheduled for release on March 21, 2025, via Flirt 99, embodies a playful yet powerful coming-of-age narrative. The Turkish term "Yaramaz," meaning “good-for-nothing,” captures a mischievous innocence and reflects Künier’s journey toward self-discovery. With this record, she delivers an inspiring, unapologetic message about embracing individuality and charting one’s own course, solidifying Güner Künier’s reputation as a bold and innovative force in contemporary music.
