About Victoryland

Victoryland is a Brooklyn-based experimental pop-rock project led by songwriter Julian McCamman in close collaboration with producer Dan Howard. Originating in Philadelphia’s lo-fi scene with the 2023 tape "Sprain," Victoryland quickly evolved into a dynamic act defined by inventive soundscapes and emotionally charged lyrics. Following the dissolution of McCamman’s previous band, Blood, the project embraced a more intimate creative approach, blending raw home demos recorded in a Bedford-Stuyvesant basement with polished production refined in Howard’s Williamsburg studio.

Their 2026 debut album, "My Heart Is A Room With No Cameras In It," released via Good English and later reissued with a deluxe edition on Dead Oceans, garnered widespread critical acclaim. The record is celebrated for its infectious hooks, danceable rhythms, and a vibrant mix of radio-ready gloss with gritty distortion. Its themes cut through love, disconnection, sexual frustration, and existential emptiness, all delivered with a nuanced balance of biting wit and raw emotional honesty. Critics praised Victoryland’s “bright, madcap” style, drawing comparisons to The New Pornographers, with Pitchfork highlighting its energetic indie pop appeal and Stereogum naming it Album of the Week.

The deluxe edition features exclusive vinyl variants, the bonus track "The Ugliest Girl On The Beach," and a fresh video for the standout single "I Got God," further cementing Victoryland’s skill at transforming life’s complex struggles into exhilarating, accessible pop moments.
