About Sound Horizon

Sound Horizon is a Tokyo-based symphonic rock collective founded in 2001 by composer and multi-instrumentalist Revo. Originally a solo project, it quickly grew into a large ensemble featuring multiple vocalists and classically trained musicians. Early additions included female vocalist Aramary and male vocalist Jimang, who helped shape the band’s signature sound—a rich blend of classical orchestration and progressive rock influenced by fantasy literature, science fiction, historical themes, and Greek mythology.

The group’s commercial breakthrough came after signing with King Records, with their major-label debut album "Roman" (2006) reaching number 19 on Japanese charts. Subsequent releases, such as "Moira" (2008), "Märchen" (2010), and "Nein" (2015), all secured top-four positions, solidifying Sound Horizon’s status in Japan’s music scene. Their discography includes several chart-topping singles like "Ido e Itaru Mori e Itaru Ido" (2010), which peaked at number two, and both "Halloween to Yoru no Monogatari" (2013) and "Vanishing Starlight" (2014), which reached number three on national charts.

Sound Horizon stands out for its theatrical storytelling and intricate compositions, creating immersive musical experiences that transcend conventional rock. While Revo’s side project Linked Horizon has attracted separate acclaim, Sound Horizon remains a cornerstone of Japan’s symphonic rock, influencing both music and anime cultures with its unique fusion of narrative and melody.
