About Belo

Belo, born in São Paulo in 1974, is a celebrated Brazilian singer renowned for his soulful voice and influential role in samba and pagode music. He first rose to prominence as the lead vocalist of the acclaimed samba group Soweto, where he became recognized as the definitive voice of his generation, contributing to the group’s impressive sales of over three million records. After eight years with Soweto, Belo launched a highly successful solo career, further cementing his status as one of Brazil’s premier interpreters of modern samba.

His debut solo album, "Desafio" (2000), was released under EMI and quickly achieved double platinum status within a year, signaling Belo's seamless transition to solo stardom. This success was followed by the live album "Belo ao Vivo" (2001), which sold over 270,000 copies and showcased his dynamic stage presence. Throughout his solo career, Belo maintained strong creative partnerships with key collaborators from his Soweto days, including producer Prateado and arrangers Jota Moraes, Paulinho Calazans, and Carlinhos Gonzalez. Their collaboration helped preserve the authentic samba essence in later albums such as "Valeu Esperar" and "Romance Rosa."

In 2006, Belo released "Procura-Se Um Amor," a comprehensive compilation that highlights the best moments of his solo journey. Known for blending traditional samba rhythms with pagode influences, Belo remains a pivotal figure in contemporary Brazilian music, celebrated both for his heartfelt compositions and his lasting influence on the genre.
