About Mindless Self Indulgence

Mindless Self Indulgence is a groundbreaking New York City-based band that emerged in 1997, known for their fierce blend of punk, industrial, hip-hop, and electronic rock. Their 1999 debut album, "Tight," introduced a wild and unconventional sound paired with theatrical live performances that quickly gained attention. This energetic stage presence opened doors for them to tour alongside major acts like industrial metal icons Rammstein and hip-hop duo Insane Clown Posse, cementing their reputation as electrifying performers.

Building on this momentum, Mindless Self Indulgence released "The Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy" (2000) and followed with the live compilation "Alienating Our Audience: Live" (2002). Their 2005 album, "You'll Rebel to Anything," marked a pivotal moment as it was released through the industrial-focused Metropolis Records in three distinctive editions, each featuring unique tracks and artwork. The band’s sound evolved further with "If" (2008) via The End Records, showcasing a heavier metal influence.

Demonstrating artistic independence, Mindless Self Indulgence crowdfunded their 2013 album "How I Learned to Stop Giving a Shit and Love Mindless Self Indulgence" on their own label, Uppity Cracker. In 2015, they offered fans a retrospective look with "Pink," a collection of early demos from 1990 to 1997, alongside inventive covers of Depeche Mode’s "Personal Jesus" and Duran Duran’s "Girls on Film." This enduring willingness to defy genres and expectations keeps Mindless Self Indulgence a singular force in alternative music.
