About Helicon

Helicon, the psychedelic rock duo formed by brothers John-Paul and Gary Hughes in East Kilbride, Glasgow, has distinguished itself by fusing 1960s counter-culture vibes with a modern twist, blending guitars, sitars, and electronica into hypnotic grooves. Since signing with Fuzz Club Records in 2017, Helicon has built an impressive discography featuring three studio albums, two live recordings, multiple EPs, and singles. Their sound, marked by worldly influences and innovative production, has attracted significant airplay on BBC Radio 6 Music and coverage from leading music outlets such as Clash, Louder Than War, and Shindig.

The band’s 2023 breakthrough album, "God Intentions," not only entered the UK album charts but also won ‘Psych Lovers’ Album of the Year’ and earned a long-list nomination for the Scottish Album of the Year, cementing their stature by headlining the Scottish Alternative Music Awards. Helicon’s dynamic live presence has seen them touring extensively across Europe and playing major independent festivals.

Known for their collaborative approach, Helicon has worked with notable figures including producer Tony Doogan (Mogwai), bassist Will Carruthers (Spacemen 3, The Brian Jonestown Massacre), Mark Gardener of Ride, and Los Angeles-based DJ and producer Al Lover. Their forthcoming fourth studio album, "ARISE" (2026), continues this exploratory partnership, promising to expand their boundary-pushing psychedelic sound even further.
