About 坂本真綾

Maaya Sakamoto, born in 1980 in Tokyo’s Itabashi ward, launched her career in 1996 with the debut single "Yakusoku wa Iranai," instantly captivating audiences with her clear, emotive vocals. Over more than 25 years, she has evolved into a multifaceted artist, building an impressive legacy as a singer, voice actress, lyricist, essayist, radio personality, and stage performer.

Her seventh studio album, "You Can’t Catch Me" (year unspecified), reached number one on the Oricon charts, underscoring her lasting appeal in Japan’s competitive music scene. Sakamoto has performed at iconic venues such as Nippon Budokan and Saitama Super Arena, and internationally in Taiwan and Hong Kong. Notably, she has also graced unique stages like the elevated platform at Itsukushima Shrine and appeared at major music festivals nationwide.

Beyond music, Maaya Sakamoto has demonstrated her versatility in theater, winning the 38th Kikuta Kazuo Drama Award for her role in the musical "Daddy Long Legs."
