Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) is a groundbreaking English electronic duo formed in 1978 in Merseyside by Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys. Renowned pioneers of synth-pop and new wave, OMD quickly rose to prominence with iconic tracks such as "Enola Gay" and "Joan of Arc (Maid of Orleans)," which have become timeless staples in the electronic music canon. Their early work, including landmark albums like *Architecture and Morality* and *Dazzle Ships*, showcased a unique blend of melodic craftsmanship and experimental soundscapes that set them apart from their contemporaries.

Refusing to rest on their legacy, OMD have continually evolved, balancing innovation with accessibility. After a hiatus, they made a powerful comeback with *The Punishment of Luxury* (2017), marking their return to the UK Top Five—their highest chart position since *Sugar Tax* (1991). Critics praised the album for reaffirming their creative vitality. Building on this renewed momentum, the band released *Bauhaus Staircase* (2023), their most politically engaged work to date.
