Shing02, born in Tokyo and raised across Tanzania and England, is a pioneering figure in independent hip-hop, whose career took root in the vibrant San Francisco Bay Area scene during the early 1990s. Launching his solo career in 1995, Shing02 is renowned for his multilingual, introspective lyricism and his ability to blend diverse musical influences, reflecting his global upbringing.

His most celebrated work includes collaborations with the late Japanese producer Nujabes, where Shing02’s thoughtful words intertwined seamlessly with Nujabes’ atmospheric beats, producing tracks that have become iconic in underground hip-hop cultures around the world. This partnership helped define a unique sound that continues to resonate with fans years later.

Throughout his career, Shing02 has evolved by working alongside various artists and crossing genres, exemplified by recent releases like "S8102" (with Sauce81), "246911" (featuring SPIN MASTER A-1), and "Triumphant" (with Jack The Rip).
