About Marilyn Manson

Marilyn Manson, born Brian Warner in Canton, Ohio, rose from the underground scene to become one of rock’s most provocative and influential figures since the 1990s. At eighteen, he moved to Tampa Bay, Florida, where he initially worked as a music journalist before forming Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids in 1989 with guitarist Scott Mitchell (later Daisy Berkowitz). Known for their elaborate gothic aesthetics and theatrical performances, the band gained regional recognition in South Florida’s alternative scene.

Their breakthrough came when Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor signed them to Nothing Records. Marilyn Manson’s debut album, "Portrait of an American Family" (1994), introduced their dark industrial metal sound. The 1995 EP "Smells Like Children," featuring a haunting cover of Eurythmics’ "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)," propelled them to mainstream attention. Their multi-platinum release "Antichrist Superstar" (1996), produced by Reznor, solidified Manson’s reputation as both a commercial force and a cultural lightning rod, driven by hits like "The Beautiful People."

Marilyn Manson continued to evolve artistically through albums such as "Mechanical Animals" (1998), "Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death)" (2000), and "The Golden Age of Grotesque" (2003), blending glam rock, industrial, and conceptual narratives. Later works—"Eat Me, Drink Me" (2007), "The High End of Low" (2009), and "Born Villain" (2012)—explored personal themes and featured collaborations with musicians like Tim Skold and composer Tyler Bates. His critically acclaimed albums, "The Pale Emperor" (2015) and "Heaven Upside Down" (2017), showcase a blend of gothic, blues, and industrial influences, cementing Marilyn Manson’s legacy as a goth rock icon and enduring provocateur in music and performance art.
