About Ne‐Yo

Ne-Yo, born Shaffer Smith in Camden, Arkansas, and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, is a defining voice in contemporary R&B and pop music. He first rose to prominence in 2004 as a gifted songwriter, penning Mario’s massive hit "Let Me Love You," which became one of the decade’s biggest singles. This breakthrough launched Ne-Yo’s solo career under Def Jam Records, with his 2006 debut album "In My Own Words" featuring the chart-topping single "So Sick." He solidified his status with follow-up albums "Because of You" (2007), which won a Grammy for Best Contemporary R&B Album, and "Year of the Gentleman" (2008), delivering hits like "Closer" and the Grammy-winning "Miss Independent."

Ne-Yo is also renowned for crafting chart-topping songs for top artists, including Beyoncé’s "Irreplaceable," Rihanna’s "Unfaithful" and "Take a Bow," and Jennifer Hudson’s "Spotlight." In 2010, his album "Libra Scale" embraced a sci-fi concept inspired by Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder, while 2012’s "R.E.D." marked a shift towards dance-pop, coinciding with his role as Senior Vice President of A&R at Motown Records. Later works like "Non-Fiction" (2015) and "Good Man" (2018) continued to blend sophisticated R&B with pop sensibilities, showcasing his versatility.

Beyond music, Ne-Yo has expanded into acting and television, appearing in projects like "Sharknado 3" and "Empire," and collaborating with artists such as Pitbull, Calvin Harris, and T-Pain. His enduring influence and ability to adapt keep him relevant in an evolving music landscape.
