About 8stops7

8stops7 is an alternative rock band that originated in Ventura County, California, in 1996. The group initially consisted of Evan Sula-Goff (vocals, guitar), Seth Watson (guitar), Adam Powell (drums), and Alex Viveros (bass), with Aaron Johnson later joining as a second guitarist, completing their lineup. They made their live debut on February 21, 1997—coinciding with Sula-Goff’s 21st birthday—marking the beginning of their journey in the alternative rock scene.

Known for blending introspective lyrics with melodic, accessible rock, 8stops7 carved out a unique niche through thoughtful songwriting that explores philosophical themes. Their independently released debut album, "Birth of a Cynic" (1998), showcased their raw sound and attracted attention from major labels. This early success led to a contract with Reprise Records, which released their major-label debut, "In Moderation" (1999). The album featured standout singles like "My Would-Be Savior" and "Satisfied," boosting the band’s profile and securing their first national tour during the winter of 1999-2000.

The band’s name holds symbolic meaning: the number eight reflects the infinity symbol, representing continuity and escape, while seven signifies limitations and superstition, such as the seven-day week or seven years of bad luck. Throughout their career, 8stops7 has continued to resonate with fans through their meaningful lyrics and engaging sound, solidifying their place in alternative rock history.
