About Roan Ash

Roan Ash is a South African-born singer-songwriter whose music artfully blends country-rock with honest, heartfelt storytelling. Raised in South Africa, he discovered his passion for music early on, teaching himself guitar chords from his older sister. His songwriting was influenced by classic storytellers like Kris Kristofferson and Don Williams, while later inspirations included iconic artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, and John Mayer. This diverse musical foundation helped Ash craft a sound that is both authentic and emotionally resonant.

Ash debuted with the independent album "The Traveller" (2014), marking the beginning of his recording career. It was his 2018 release, "Whiskey to My Soul," that truly defined his distinctive voice, showcasing a maturity in songwriting and a deep commitment to sincerity. Recognizing the creative opportunities offered by Nashville’s vibrant music scene, Roan Ash relocated to Music City to collaborate with some of its most talented songwriters and to prepare for his first major label album.

Throughout his journey, Roan Ash has remained committed to authenticity, eschewing marketing formulas in favor of genuine connection and soul-stirring songs. His music transcends borders, inviting listeners into a heartfelt exploration of life and storytelling within the evolving landscape of country and Americana music.
