About Dante Spinetta

Dante Spinetta is a cornerstone of Argentine music, known for his dynamic role in shaping Latin American urban sounds over the past three decades. Born into a musical legacy as the son of the legendary Luis Alberto Spinetta, Dante’s journey began early, performing alongside his father before forming the influential duo Illya Kuryaki & The Valderramas with Emmanuel Horvilleur at just 14. The duo revolutionized the regional scene by blending hip-hop, rap, and funk, with landmark albums like *Chaco*, *Versus*, and *Leche* solidifying their place in Latin music history.

Following the duo’s split, Dante embarked on a solo career that highlighted his versatility across hip-hop, funk, and R&B on albums such as *Elevado* (2002), *El apagón* (2007), and *Pyramide* (2013). His 2017 release, *Puñal*, marked a turn toward a more acoustic and introspective style, earning him multiple Premios Gardel and Latin Grammy nominations. The single "Soltar" from this period remains one of his most beloved tracks.

Dante Spinetta continues to influence new generations, collaborating with prominent Argentine trap artists like Duki and Neo Pistea. His fifth studio album, *Mesa Dulce* (2020), is a vibrant homage to authentic musicianship, featuring live instrumentation and a heartfelt celebration of life and music. This album earned him four Premios Gardel and a Latin Grammy for Best Alternative Song with "El lado oscuro del corazón." Through his ongoing Latin Funky Nation Tour, Dante Spinetta remains a vital force in contemporary Latin music, bridging past and present with innovation and soul.
