Peter Schilling, born in 1956 in Stuttgart, Germany, is a celebrated singer and songwriter who became a defining voice in the 1980s new wave and synth-pop movement. His international breakthrough came with the 1983 hit "Major Tom (völlig losgelöst/coming home)," a synth-driven anthem that captivated audiences across Germany, Europe, and North America. This song remains one of the most successful German-language pop tracks ever to achieve global recognition, blending catchy melodies with space-themed storytelling that set Schilling apart as an innovative artist.

Beyond his musical legacy, Peter Schilling has expanded the "Major Tom" universe into literature and multimedia. He co-created the popular children's book series "Der kleine Major Tom," published by Tessloff, which combines adventurous narratives with immersive audio plays. Schilling voices the adult Major Tom, adding depth to the character’s journey across the cosmos. The series continues to thrive, with its seventeenth volume, "Rettungsmission zum Pluto," recently debuting at the Leipzig Book Fair.
