About Aphty Khéa

Aphty Khéa is a Greek-British electronic artist known for blending soulful melodies with driving electronica, UK rave influences, and electropunk energy. Beginning their musical journey at age six in choir, Aphty developed classical piano and vocal skills before winning Greece’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest. At eighteen, they moved to London to study songwriting at the ICMP Music Institute, where their artistry expanded through session work with notable musicians like Jordan Rakei and Rachel Chinouriri.

Aphty’s music stands out for its poetic and vulnerable lyricism, often addressing themes of queer identity, social anxiety, existential questions, and radical self-love. Their bilingual expression in both English and Greek enhances the emotional depth of their sound, which ranges from warm, blissful harmonies to distorted, aggressive electropunk bursts. The critically acclaimed EP "Salt & Copper" (year unspecified) showcases their talent for merging captivating vocals with experimental electronic soundscapes.

Supported by BBC Radio 1 hosts Jamz Supernova and Jaguar on BBC Introducing Dance—as well as 6 Music figures like Lauren Laverne and Mary Anne Hobbs—Aphty Khéa’s work has attracted attention from major outlets including DJ Mag, Mixmag, The Fader, and KALTBLUT Magazine. Based between Berlin, London, and Athens, they are deeply engaged in LGBTQIA+, anti-capitalist, antiracist, antifascist, and antisexist movements, reflecting their commitment to community activism alongside their innovative collaborations with artists such as Arpy Brown and Gabriel Gifford. This fusion of activism with vivid audiovisual artistry makes Aphty Khéa a compelling and influential figure in contemporary electronic music.
