About Moving Day

Moving Day is an innovative electronic trio formed by vocalist Robbie Juarez, cellist Dylan Coffey-Moore, and synthesist Rocco Desgres. The group’s origins trace back to 2012 when Robbie and Rocco first met at the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts (PVPA) charter school in Western Massachusetts. After collaborating on projects like Cosmic Duct Tape and Translucent Industry throughout their school years, they officially launched Moving Day in 2018 following their graduation.

Initially dabbling in math rock and guitar pop, Moving Day soon shifted their focus to a synthesizer-driven sound. The pivotal addition of Dylan’s cello—first invited as an experimental feature on a single track—became a defining element, blending classical strings with electronic textures to create a signature sonic identity. This distinctive trio format merges emotional hardcore intensity with melodic synth-pop, drawing inspiration from modern artists such as Advance Base, Nation of Language, and LCD Soundsystem, as well as synth pioneers like Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Depeche Mode, and Kraftwerk.

In November 2022, Moving Day released their debut album, "Slumber in Motion," which highlights their evolving soundscape of heartfelt vocals, intricate cello lines, and dynamic electronic rhythms. The album garnered critical acclaim and established the band as a fresh voice in the electronic music scene. Known for their genre-blending style and emotional depth, Moving Day continues to captivate listeners with their innovative fusion of classic and contemporary influences.
