About Empire of the Sun

Empire of the Sun is an acclaimed Australian electro-glam-pop duo, formed by Luke Steele of The Sleepy Jackson and Nick Littlemore from Pnau. Their partnership began after collaborating on Pnau’s 2007 track "With You Forever," which sparked a creative synergy that led to the birth of Empire of the Sun. Influenced by pioneering electronic acts such as Phoenix and Daft Punk, the duo released their debut album, *Walking on a Dream* (2008), a vibrant and cinematic "spiritual road movie." The album went platinum in Australia, propelled by the international success of its title track, which notably topped the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart almost a decade later, following its feature in a U.S. car commercial.

After an extensive global tour and a brief hiatus during which Littlemore composed for Cirque du Soleil, Empire of the Sun returned with their disco-infused sophomore album *Ice on the Dune* (2013), further cementing their reputation with a worldwide tour. In 2014, they contributed "Tonight" and "Wandering Star" to the soundtrack of *Dumb and Dumber To*. Their third studio album, *Two Vines* (2016), recorded across Los Angeles and Hawaii, showcased collaborations with artists such as Lindsey Buckingham, Wendy Melvoin of Prince & The Revolution, and members linked to David Bowie’s *Blackstar*. The album reached the Australian Top Ten and nearly cracked the U.S. Top 50. Following this, they released the *On Our Way Home* EP in 2017. Celebrating over a decade since their debut, Empire of the Sun issued a special 10th-anniversary edition of *Walking on a Dream* in 2019, including the new track "Chrysalis," affirming their enduring influence in the global music landscape.
