About Yasiin Bey

Yasiin Bey, born Dante Terrell Smith in Brooklyn, New York, is a pioneering figure in hip-hop known for his intellectually rich lyricism and unwavering social consciousness. Initially performing under the name Mos Def, he rose to prominence in the late 1990s for his ability to blend poetic storytelling with incisive commentary on race, culture, and systemic injustice.
