About Foals

Foals, an innovative indie rock band from Oxford, England, emerged in the late 2000s with a distinctive blend of infectious new wave rhythms, intricate math rock, and atmospheric post-rock textures. The original lineup featured longtime friends Yannis Philippakis (guitar, vocals), Jack Bevan (drums), Jimmy Smith (guitar), Walter Gervers (bass), and Edwin Congreave (keyboards). Initially, Andrew Mears handled vocals before Philippakis took over, a shift that helped define the band’s jittery dance-rock sound.

Foals broke onto the scene with early singles like "Try This on Your Piano" and "Hummer," leading to their debut album, "Antidotes" (2008), which reached number three on the UK Albums Chart. This release established them as a band capable of crafting complex yet accessible compositions. Over the next decade, they refined their sound with albums such as "Holy Fire" (2013), their first to chart internationally, and the ambitious two-part "Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost" (2019), with Part 1 hitting number two in the UK.

Following the amicable departures of Walter Gervers and Edwin Congreave, Foals transitioned into a trio and released "Life Is Yours" (2022), featuring singles like "Wake Me Up," "2AM," and "Looking High." Renowned for their dynamic live shows and inventive approach, Foals continue to push the boundaries of modern indie rock, maintaining a reputation as one of Britain’s most forward-thinking bands.
