About David August

David August is a pioneering Italian-German composer and DJ recognized for his innovative fusion of electronic music with deep philosophical and multidisciplinary themes. Beginning his musical journey as a teenager, August quickly gained acclaim for his genre-defying sound that pushes beyond the conventional boundaries of electronic music. He is the founder of the forward-thinking label 99CHANTS, which has nurtured collaborations with notable artists such as Lena Platonos and Bunita Marcus, fostering a unique creative community.

In 2022, August curated the non-profit compilation "Imaginary Landscapes," featuring acclaimed musicians like KMRU, Kareem Lotfy, and Yu Su, united by the quest to explore what the future might sound like. The global hiatus in 2020 became a period of intense self-reflection for him, during which he delved into ancient philosophy, mysticism, and quantum physics. This profound study transformed his artistic vision, shifting his role from protagonist to observer—channeling unexplainable forces through sound.

His 2023 album, "VĪS"—a Latin term meaning "energy" or "force"—represents a grand, conceptual exploration of human evolution imagined through sonic landscapes. Inspired by Plato’s "Allegory of the Cave," the album was transformed into an immersive live experience through collaborations with choreographer Franka Marlene Foth and scenographer MFO. This innovative production sold out venues across Europe, solidifying David August’s reputation as a visionary artist whose work continually redefines the possibilities of contemporary electronic music.
