About the prize

Emerging from Melbourne’s dynamic music scene in 2021, The Prize has swiftly established itself as a compelling force within contemporary rock and roll. The band’s lineup features a distinctive three-guitar setup with guitarists Joseph Imfeld, Austin Haire, and Carey Paterson—who, alongside drummer Nadine Muller, shares lead vocal duties—and bassist Ethan Stahl anchoring the rhythm section. This unique configuration powers their energetic fusion of power pop, classic rock, punk, and new wave influences.

Known for their vibrant live shows, The Prize channels inspiration from legendary acts such as Thin Lizzy, Cheap Trick, Blondie, The Pretenders, and the Rolling Stones to craft a sound marked by melodic twin lead guitars and driving rhythms. Their reputation for electrifying performances has earned them coveted support slots with iconic bands including Pavement, Sunnyboys, The Stems, and Guitar Wolf.

In 2024, The Prize expanded their reach with two extensive European and UK tours, opening for prominent names like King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, The Murlocs, and The Chats. This momentum culminated in the release of their highly anticipated debut album, "In The Red" (2025), issued through Australia’s Anti Fade Records and the U.S.-based Goner Records. Their recent single, "From The Night," further showcases their signature hook-driven style, solidifying The Prize’s position as one of rock’s most exciting new voices on the global stage.
