About Kate Bush

Kate Bush, born Catherine Bush in 1958 in South London, is a groundbreaking English singer-songwriter renowned for her innovative fusion of art rock, pop, and theatrical vocals. A classically trained pianist and violinist, she began composing music as a teenager, developing a distinct sound defined by expressive storytelling and ambitious experimentation. Her career launch at just 19 was famously supported by Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour, who helped her secure a recording contract with EMI Records.

Bush shot to fame in 1978 with the ethereal, Emily Brontë-inspired single "Wuthering Heights," which topped UK charts and propelled her debut album, "The Kick Inside" (1978), to commercial success. Subsequent albums like "Lionheart" (1978), "Never for Ever" (1980), and the self-produced "The Dreaming" (1982) showcased her pioneering use of electronics, innovative production, and fearless artistic vision. Her 1985 album "Hounds of Love," featuring the global hit "Running Up That Hill," marked a creative milestone recorded in her home studio, underscoring her full artistic control.

Despite periods of hiatus, including a 12-year break before releasing the double album "Aerial" (2005), Kate Bush maintained a devoted fan base and influenced artists across genres, from Björk and Tori Amos to OutKast. Her triumphant return to live performance in 2014 at London’s Hammersmith Apollo sold out within minutes, leading to the acclaimed live album "Before the Dawn" (2016). The viral resurgence of "Running Up That Hill" through the 2022 season of *Stranger Things* introduced her work to a new generation, reaffirming Kate Bush’s enduring legacy as a visionary and timeless icon in music history.
