About Scissor Sisters

Formed in New York City in 2001, Scissor Sisters quickly became a standout force in alternative pop by blending rock, dance, and pop with theatrical influences drawn from burlesque, drag culture, and glam rock. Fronted by vocalists Jake Shears and Ana Matronic, alongside Babydaddy on keyboards and bass, Del Marquis on guitar, and originally drummer Paddy Boom, the group established their signature sound infused with camp humor and flamboyant style.

Their breakthrough came in the early 2000s with a neon-lit, electrifying cover of Pink Floyd’s "Comfortably Numb," which earned critical acclaim, a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Record, and endorsement from influential DJs like Pete Tong. This success secured their UK record deal with Polydor and paved the way for their self-titled debut album (2004). The record launched them to international fame, supported by tours with Duran Duran and Elton John, and memorable festival appearances at Glastonbury and Montreux Jazz Festival.

Building on this momentum, Scissor Sisters released *Ta-Dah* (2006), featuring the UK chart-topping hit "I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’," a song that cemented their global appeal. After lineup shifts and a creative hiatus, they returned with *Night Work* (2010), produced by Stuart Price, showcasing a darker, club-friendly edge. Their 2012 album *Magic Hour* expanded their sound further through collaborations with Pharrell Williams, Calvin Harris, and Azealia Banks.

Rooted in LGBTQ+ culture and inspired by icons such as Elton John, David Bowie, and the Bee Gees, Scissor Sisters have maintained a lasting influence on alternative pop and dance music scenes worldwide, celebrated for their eclectic style and boundary-pushing artistry.
