About Böhse Onkelz

Böhse Onkelz is a legendary German rock band that formed in 1980 in Frankfurt am Main. The original lineup featured Stephan Weidner on bass, Kevin Russell as the lead vocalist, and Peter “Pe” Schorowsky on drums, with Matthias “Gonzo” Röhr joining as the guitarist in 1981. Emerging from the city's punk scene, the band quickly transitioned to a hard rock sound, which became their signature and helped them become one of the most influential German-speaking rock acts.

Their breakthrough came in 1992 with the release of the album "Heilige Lieder," which climbed into the top five on German charts. Throughout the 1990s, Böhse Onkelz solidified their dominance by releasing six consecutive albums that reached number one, making them a commercial powerhouse. However, at the height of their success, the band disbanded in 2004, citing Kevin Russell’s battle with drug addiction. Their farewell concert drew an impressive crowd of 120,000 fans, underscoring their massive impact.

After a decade-long hiatus, Böhse Onkelz reunited in 2014 to overwhelming fan enthusiasm, performing to 200,000 people at the Hockenheimring. Their comeback album "Memento" (2016) debuted at number one, with tours selling out rapidly. Having sold over 10 million records, Böhse Onkelz remain a cornerstone of German rock music, renowned for their powerful sound and enduring legacy.
