About Castle Rat

Castle Rat is a Brooklyn-based medieval fantasy doom metal band that masterfully blends crushing stoner riffs with rich, theatrical storytelling. Formed in October 2019, the group is fronted by Riley Pinkerton—known as "The Rat Queen"—who commands rhythm guitar and lead vocals while leading a dark quest to protect their mystical realm from the ominous "Rat Reaperess." Supporting her are Franco Vittore ("The Count") on blazing lead guitar and backing vocals, Charley Ruddell ("The Plague Doctor") on bass, and Joshua Strmic ("The Druid") on drums, each contributing to the band’s epic soundscapes.

Castle Rat has steadily built a devoted following thanks to their immersive live shows that evoke the spirit of classic fantasy art and occult themes reminiscent of Frank Frazetta and Black Sabbath. Their touring history spans the American Southwest and includes headline performances at major festivals such as DesertFest NYC, where they shared the bill with iconic acts like Melvins, Boris, and Monster Magnet. The band has also supported revered metal outfits including Monolord, Firebreather, Stonefield, and The Well, showcasing their versatility and appeal across the heavy music community.

In 2024, Castle Rat is set to make a landmark statement with their debut album, "Into The Realm," which promises to deepen their mythic narrative and cement their status within the stoner and doom metal scenes. This release is eagerly anticipated by fans craving a powerful fusion of sword-and-sorcery themes with heavy, atmospheric riffs.
