About Judas Priest

Judas Priest, formed in Birmingham, England, in 1970, stands as a pioneering force in heavy metal history. Key architects of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, they forged a distinctive sound defined by Rob Halford’s soaring vocals and the dual-guitar mastery of Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing. Their golden era from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s produced seminal albums such as *British Steel* (1980), *Screaming for Vengeance* (1982), and *Defenders of the Faith* (1984). These releases spawned iconic anthems like "Breaking the Law," "Living After Midnight," and "You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’," establishing Judas Priest as global metal trailblazers and influencing genres like speed and death metal.

Following Halford’s departure in the early 1990s, the band recruited Tim "Ripper" Owens to carry the torch, maintaining their momentum through a challenging period. Halford’s triumphant return in 2003 revitalized Judas Priest’s creativity, leading to acclaimed albums including *Angel of Retribution* (2005), the ambitious concept album *Nostradamus* (2008), *Redeemer of Souls* (2014), and the chart-topping *Firepower* (2018). Their unwavering influence and innovation earned them a well-deserved induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022.
