Paul Simon, born Paul Frederic Simon on October 13, 1941, in Newark, New Jersey, is a towering figure in popular music history. He first rose to prominence as one half of the legendary duo Simon & Garfunkel, which he formed with Art Garfunkel during their teenage years. Initially performing as Tom & Jerry, they scored an early hit with "Hey Schoolgirl" (1957). Simon & Garfunkel achieved massive success in the 1960s and early 1970s, with timeless classics like "The Sound of Silence" and the acclaimed album "Bridge Over Troubled Water" (1970).

Launching a remarkable solo career, Paul Simon distinguished himself as a masterful songwriter keen to explore diverse musical landscapes. His 1975 album "Still Crazy After All These Years" topped charts and won the Grammy for Album of the Year, featuring the unforgettable single "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover." Simon continued pushing creative boundaries with his self-titled 1972 album, which incorporated reggae and Latin rhythms.
