About Samiam

Samiam, formed in 1988 in Berkeley, California, stands as a pivotal figure in the punk rock, melodic hardcore, and emo scenes. Over more than three decades, the band has crafted a distinctive sound that marries raw, energetic instrumentation with emotionally resonant lyrics. Their dedication to relentless touring and passionate songwriting earned them a devoted global following and secured their place as stalwarts of the California punk movement.

With a discography spanning nine studio albums, Samiam made their mark through notable releases on influential labels such as Hopeless Records, Burning Heart Records, Golf Records, and, more recently, Pure Noise Records. After nearly a decade without new studio material, the band’s 2023 album, "Stowaway," marked a triumphant return, showcasing their ability to evolve sonically while staying true to the authenticity that defines their legacy.

Associated closely with the legendary 924 Gilman Street venue, Samiam has performed alongside many prominent acts in the punk and emo communities, further influencing the genres’ development. Their career highlights include eight full-length albums before "Stowaway," relentless touring worldwide, and a consistent impact on fans and fellow musicians alike. Samiam’s enduring presence and contributions underline their significance as innovators and enduring voices within the punk rock genre.
