About X JAPAN

X JAPAN stands as one of Japan’s most influential and iconic rock bands, widely credited with pioneering the visual kei movement and reshaping the nation’s rock landscape. Formed in 1982 by the multi-talented composer, drummer, and pianist YOSHIKI, the band quickly gained a massive following through their unique fusion of hard rock, heavy metal, and symphonic elements. Over their career, X JAPAN has sold over 30 million albums, singles, and videos worldwide, cementing their status as commercial and cultural trailblazers.

Despite disbanding at the peak of their success in 1997, the core members, including vocalist TOSHI, reunited in 2007 after resolving personal differences. Their highly anticipated comeback began with three sold-out nights at Tokyo Dome in 2008, signaling their enduring appeal. X JAPAN expanded their international influence by becoming the first Japanese rock band to perform at Lollapalooza in 2010. They continued to break records with legendary concerts, including two sold-out shows at Nissan Stadium attended by 140,000 fans and an unprecedented 18 sold-out nights at Tokyo Dome. Their global reach extended to iconic venues such as Wembley Arena, Madison Square Garden, and renowned festivals like Coachella.

The band’s remarkable journey and lasting impact were immortalized in the critically acclaimed 2018 documentary "We Are X," which earned accolades at SXSW and Sundance Film Festivals. Today, X JAPAN’s lineup—featuring YOSHIKI, TOSHI, PATA (guitar), HEATH (bass), and SUGIZO (violin, guitar)—continues to inspire rock enthusiasts across the world, balancing timeless artistry with a powerful stage presence.
