About Matisse

Matisse is a Mexican pop trio that has carved a unique niche by blending folk, pop/rock, and singer-songwriter traditions with polished, radio-ready production. Formed in Mexico City in 2014, the group originally began as a duo featuring Pablo Preciado and Román Torres. Both met while studying classical music at the Guadalajara Conservatoire, which laid a strong musical foundation influencing their songwriting craft. Their early talent quickly caught the attention of the industry, securing a songwriting contract with Sony Music Mexico under vice-president Paul Forat. Matisse’s compositions have been recorded by prominent Latin artists like Carlos Rivera, Cristian Castro, and Alejandra Guzmán, signaling their rising influence behind the scenes.

The trio was completed with the addition of Melissa Robles, whose viral cover of Rivera’s hit "Fascinación" introduced her distinct vocal presence and ukulele skills to the group. Matisse released their debut album "Sube" in 2015, featuring lush, romantic ballads such as "La Misma Luna," "Si Fuera Fácil," and "Por Última Vez," which highlight their signature harmonies and heartfelt storytelling. They expanded their sonic palette with "Por Tu Bien" (2017) and "Tres" (2020), subtly incorporating urban elements without losing the emotive core that defines their music. Renowned for their melodic depth and sincere lyrics, Matisse remains a standout act in Mexico’s contemporary Latin pop scene.
