About Manege Frei

Manege Frei, originating from the southeastern edge of Germany’s Ruhr region, has been a relentless force in the hardcore punk scene since September 2008. Renowned for their ferocious and fast-paced sound, the band expertly fuses aggressive guitar riffs with catchy melodies and blistering solos. This intense instrumentation is driven by pounding drums and raw, guttural vocals, often delivered through gang shouts that amplify their energetic live performances.

Lyrically, Manege Frei tackles a bold range of themes—from irreverent social commentary and taboo subjects to bleak misanthropy laced with apocalyptic undertones. Central to their message is an unapologetic anti-fascist stance, which they confront head-on with stark honesty and uncompromising intensity. Over the years, Manege Frei has built a rich discography, including several demos, multiple 7-inch releases, and the hard-hitting 12-inch record “Schweine.” Their 2021 album, “Virulent,” released through a collaboration of Save the Scene Records, Kotzbrocken Records, and Kloppstock Records, delivered twelve tracks of unyielding hardcore aggression, followed by the fiercely charged “War Times” in September 2025.

With more than a decade of experience, Manege Frei has shared stages with notable punk and hardcore icons such as Alarmsignal, Toxoplasma, Total Chaos, The Restarts, Cluster Bomb Unit, and Los Fastidios. Critics often draw comparisons to stalwarts like Rawside, VSK, and Bonehouse, thanks to their eclectic blend of hardcore styles. Known for their merciless energy and raw power, Manege Frei continues to be a vital presence in the global hardcore punk landscape.
