About The Garden

The Garden is a dynamic punk duo hailing from Orange County, California, composed of twin brothers Fletcher and Wyatt Shears. Launching their musical journey around age 19 after leaving their previous band M.H.V., the siblings quickly established a unique presence within the West Coast indie scene. Drawing inspiration from seminal hardcore and punk acts like Saccharine Trust, the Minutemen, and Killing Joke, as well as the quirky sensibilities of Dead Milkmen, They Might Be Giants, and Ween, The Garden forged an experimental, genre-blurring sound that combines punk energy with an offbeat, lo-fi aesthetic.

The duo’s early output consisted of cassette releases such as "Everything Is Perfect" (2012), "The Life and Times of a Paperclip" (2013), and the "Rules" EP (2013), all launched under Burger Records. Their breakthrough came with the sprawling 17-track album "Haha" (2015) following a signing with Epitaph Records, which showcased a vibrant electro-punk style. This evolved further on "Mirror Might Steal Your Charm" (2018), marked by a more guitar-driven approach. Their most recent album, "Kiss My Super Bowl Ring" (2020), features noteworthy collaborations with artists like Mac DeMarco, Ariel Pink, and Le1f, highlighting The Garden’s irreverent creativity and collaborative spirit.

Known for their infectious live performances, Fletcher’s vigorous drumming and theatrical presence mesh seamlessly with Wyatt’s bass-driven melodies and vocal delivery. Beyond the band, Fletcher explores electronic music under the moniker Puzzle, while Wyatt pursues synth-oriented projects as Enjoy. With extensive tours across the United States, Europe, and Japan, The Garden continues to push the boundaries of contemporary punk, earning a reputation as one of the scene’s most innovative and unpredictable acts.
