About Jacques Forestier

Canadian violinist Jacques Forestier has swiftly established himself as one of the most promising talents in the international classical music scene. At just nineteen, Forestier gained widespread recognition by winning the prestigious Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition in 2024, a triumph that propelled his career onto the global stage. Praised by The Violin Channel as “a real poet with emotional maturity far beyond his young years,” he combines technical brilliance with profound interpretive insight.

Forestier’s artistry has been showcased with renowned orchestras including the NDR Radiophilharmonie, Munich Chamber Orchestra, and Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Currently, he is an Efrem Zimbalist Fellow at the Curtis Institute of Music, where he studies under distinguished mentors Shmuel Ashkenasi and Pamela Frank. His competitive achievements extend to top honors from the Stulberg, Klein, Johansen, and OSM Manulife competitions, highlighting his consistent excellence.

Performing on a rare circa 1765 Parma G.B. Guadagnini violin, generously provided by the Fritz Behrens Foundation, Forestier benefits from ongoing mentorship through the Zukunfts.musik program with respected violinist Sonia Simmenauer. Supported by the Edmonton Community and Anne Burrows Foundations, Jacques Forestier continues to captivate audiences worldwide with his youthful artistry and deeply expressive performances, securing his place among the foremost young classical musicians of his generation.
