About N.W.A

N.W.A (Niggaz With Attitude) emerged from Los Angeles in the mid-1980s as a groundbreaking force that reshaped hip-hop forever. Founded by Eazy-E (Eric Wright), a former drug dealer who launched Ruthless Records, the group initially included Dr. Dre (Andre Young), Ice Cube (O’Shea Jackson), DJ Yella (Antoine Carraby), MC Ren (Lorenzo Patterson), and the Arabian Prince, with the D.O.C. contributing behind the scenes. Their 1987 debut, "N.W.A. and the Posse," went largely unnoticed, but everything changed with their 1988 album "Straight Outta Compton." This explosive record featured raw, unapologetic lyrics about street life and police brutality, most notably the incendiary track "Fuck tha Police," which sparked an FBI warning and fueled their image as pioneers of gangsta rap.

N.W.A’s confrontational style combined hard-hitting beats with candid social commentary, influencing a generation and defining the West Coast sound. After Ice Cube left in 1989 over financial disputes, the group released the EP "100 Miles and Runnin’" (1990) and the full-length "Efil4zaggin" (1991), continuing their provocative themes and broadening their suburban fan base. Dr. Dre’s departure in 1992 to form Death Row Records marked the group’s decline, and Eazy-E’s untimely death in 1995 from AIDS-related complications closed a chapter on their turbulent yet transformative story.

Despite a brief career, N.W.A’s legacy endures as architects of gangsta rap, celebrated in the 2015 biopic "Straight Outta Compton," which grossed over $200 million, and their 2016 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Their fearless approach revolutionized hip-hop culture and left an indelible mark on music history.
