About マキシマムザホルモン

マキシマムザホルモン (Maximum the Hormone) is a trailblazing Japanese band that masterfully fuses nu-metal, punk, and pop elements into a genre-defying sound brimming with energy and theatrical flair. Formed in 1998, the group’s early work includes their debut album *A.S.A. Crew* (1999) and the EP *Hou* (2001). After original members Sugi and Key departed, the band transformed into a dynamic quartet with Daisuke Tsuda on screamo vocals, Nao Kawakita on drums and vocals, Uehara Futoshi handling bass, and Ryo Kawakita (known as Maximum the Ryo) on guitar and melodic vocals.

This revitalized lineup marked a turning point with their indie release *Mimi Kajiru* (2003) and their major label debut *Kusoban* (2004). Their 2005 album *Rokkinpo Goroshi* propelled them into Japan’s rock spotlight, showcasing a distinctive blend of heavy riffs and catchy hooks. Maximum the Hormone’s reach expanded significantly through key anime tie-ins, notably contributing the high-octane tracks "What’s Up, People?!" and "Zetsubou Billy" to the widely acclaimed *Death Note* series, as well as "Rolling1000toon" for *Air Master*.

Their commercial success peaked when *Bu Ikikaesu* (2007) climbed to number five on the charts, and the single "Koi No Megalover" broke into the Oricon Top Ten in 2006. Internationally, the band made waves during their 2008 North American tour alongside Dropkick Murphys. Renowned for their relentless energy and innovative style, マキシマムザホルモン continues to captivate audiences worldwide, cementing their legacy within Japan’s contemporary rock scene.
