About Lil Peep

Lil Peep, born Gustav Elijah Åhr in 1996 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, rose to prominence as a pioneering figure in the mid-2010s SoundCloud rap scene. Moving to Long Beach, New York, at the age of four, he began crafting music as a teenager, releasing early self-produced projects like the *Feelz* EP and mixtapes *Lil Peep, Pt. 1* and *Live Forever* in 2015. His breakthrough came in 2016 with the mixtapes *Crybaby* and *Hellboy*, which captivated audiences with a distinctive blend of emo-inspired guitar melodies, punk influences, and hip-hop beats.

Known for his raw emotional honesty, Lil Peep openly addressed themes of depression, anxiety, addiction, and vulnerability, resonating deeply with a generation seeking authenticity in music. His collaboration with Lil Tracy on the *Castles* EPs further showcased his versatility before releasing his only studio album during his lifetime, *Come Over When You're Sober, Pt. 1* (2017), featuring notable singles like "The Brightside" and "Awful Things."

Tragically, Lil Peep passed away shortly after his 21st birthday in November 2017. Despite his untimely death, his legacy endures through posthumous releases such as *Come Over When You're Sober, Pt. 2* (2018), the *GOTH ANGEL SINNER* EP, and the compilation *Everybody’s Everything* (2019). His genre-blurring style and emotional vulnerability continue to influence alternative hip-hop and emo rap, with his music maintaining substantial streaming success and cultural relevance years later.
