About Rema

Rema is a Nigerian music prodigy who dramatically reshaped the African pop landscape with his breakthrough in 2019. Emerging as a pioneering voice in Afrobeats and the subgenre Afrofusion, he first captured global attention with his self-titled debut EP (2019), which featured infectious hits like "Dumebi," "Corny," and the critically acclaimed "Iron Man." The latter earned a coveted spot on Barack Obama’s Summer Playlist and was celebrated by Rolling Stone among the 50 best songs of that year, firmly establishing Rema as a fresh and transformative force in contemporary African music.

Building on his rapid ascent, Rema released two more projects throughout 2019, further fueling his international acclaim and securing coverage in major outlets such as The Fader, Dazed, and Pitchfork. In 2020, he kept up the momentum with notable singles including “Beamer” (featuring Rvssian), “Rainbow,” as well as the chart-toppers “Ginger Me” and “Woman.” His debut full-length album, "Rave and Roses" (2022), marked a milestone, leading to a sold-out 14-city U.S. tour and a groundbreaking remix of his global hit "Calm Down" featuring pop superstar Selena Gomez. This remix helped Rema become the longest-charting Afrobeat artist on the Billboard Hot 100 and the first to surpass one billion Spotify streams for a single Afrobeat track.

With over two billion career streams, a Guinness World Record, a MTV VMA for Best African Song, and landmark performances including the iconic O2 Arena, Rema continues to solidify his global influence. His 2023 EP, "RAVAGE," proves that his innovative sound and international appeal are only growing stronger.
