About Foster the People

Foster the People, an influential indie pop band founded in Los Angeles in 2009 by multi-instrumentalist Mark Foster, quickly rose to international prominence with their vibrant, dance-infused sound. Their breakthrough single, "Pumped Up Kicks" (2010), became a cultural phenomenon, topping the Billboard Alternative Songs chart and holding a remarkable eight-week stint at number three on the Hot 100. This Diamond-certified hit—which sold 14 million copies in the U.S.—also earned a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, a 2012 Billboard Music Award, and saw its music video join YouTube's exclusive Billion Views Club.

Foster the People’s debut album, "Torches" (2011), solidified their place in alternative music, achieving triple platinum status and leading the Top Rock and Alternative Albums charts. The record garnered a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Album, setting the stage for further success. Their sophomore album, "Supermodel" (2014), debuted at number one on rock and alternative charts and peaked at number three on the Billboard 200, featuring the Gold-certified single "Coming of Age."

Continuing to evolve, Foster the People released "Sacred Hearts Club" (2017), highlighted by the quadruple platinum single "Sit Next to Me," which remained on the Hot 100 for 20 weeks. The band maintained engagement with fans through their 2020 EP "In the Darkest of Nights, Let the Birds Sing," including the single "Lamb’s Wool." Celebrating over a decade of success, they marked "Torches" tenth anniversary in 2021 with the special edition "Torches X" and live-streamed shows. Looking ahead, Foster the People is set to release their fourth studio album, "Paradise State of Mind," on August 16, 2024, preceded by the captivating single "Lost in Space," promising fresh creative directions for the band.
