About La familia

La Familia, formed in 1996 by Dragoș “Puya” Gărdescu and Tudor Sișu, stands as a seminal force in Romanian hip-hop. The duo quickly gained recognition for their raw, authentic portrayal of street life and urban realities, infusing their music with vivid narratives that resonated deeply within their community. Through landmark albums such as *Nicăieri nu-i ca acasă* (Nowhere Is Like Home), *Bine ai venit în paradis* (Welcome to Paradise), and *Familiarizează-te* (Familiarize Yourself), La Familia established a distinctive voice that helped shape Romania’s rap scene in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Their breakthrough came with the debut album *Băieți de cartier* (Neighborhood Boys) in 1997, which captured the struggles and daily experiences of their surroundings. Iconic tracks like "Tupeu de borfaș," "Vorbe," and "Probleme de familie" became anthems, appreciated for their candid storytelling and gritty lyrical style.

After an extended hiatus spanning over a decade, La Familia made a highly anticipated comeback in 2017 with the album *Codul bunelor maniere* (The Code of Good Manners). The lead single, "În realitate" ("In Reality"), reignited fan enthusiasm and marked a new chapter for the group. Their return was celebrated with a major concert at Insula Artelor in Parcul IOR, Bucharest, underscoring their enduring legacy and deep-rooted influence on Romanian hip-hop culture. La Familia remains a benchmark for authenticity and resilience in their genre, continuing to inspire new generations of artists and fans alike.
