About Elsiane

Elsiane is a captivating musical duo formed in 2000 when classically trained singer and composer Elsieanne Caplette moved from Lima, Peru, to Montreal, Canada, and teamed up with self-taught drummer Stephane Sotto. Their partnership blends an eclectic mix of jazz, rock, electronic, and world music influences, woven together with atmospheric trip-hop textures reminiscent of Massive Attack, Portishead, and Tricky. This fusion creates a haunting and original sound defined by Caplette’s mesmerizing vocals and evocative compositions.

The duo made a striking debut with their 2007 album "Hybrid," which introduced listeners to their dreamy soundscapes and standout track "Vaporous." Building on this momentum, Elsiane self-produced their 2012 release "Mechanics of Emotion," further establishing their unique sonic identity and expanding their devoted audience. In 2017, they independently released "Death of the Artist," widely regarded as their most accomplished work, showcasing maturity both musically and emotionally.

After personal loss touched the band in 2018, Elsiane embarked on a new creative phase, collaborating with visionary producer David Bottrill, known for his work with Peter Gabriel and Muse. Their 2020 single "Sinai" marked this transformation, signaling a fresh wave of innovation while honoring their intimate artistic journey. Elsiane continues to push boundaries, crafting genre-defying music with enduring emotional depth.
