About Loquillo

Loquillo, born José María Sanz Beltrán in Barcelona in 1960, is a towering figure in Spanish rock with a career spanning over 45 years and more than three million records sold in Spain. Renowned for his rebellious spirit, candid lyrics, and relentless work ethic, he emerged as a foundational voice in Spanish rock music. In 1983, Loquillo’s band, Loquillo y Los Trogloditas, released the influential album "El ritmo del garaje," which cemented their status as pioneers in the genre. Their impact peaked in 1989 during a historic concert at Sot del Migdia in Barcelona, where they played to over 120,000 fans—the largest audience ever recorded in the city.

After nearly three decades with Los Trogloditas, Loquillo launched his solo career in 2008 with the critically acclaimed album "Balmoral," earning a Latin Grammy nomination. His artistic evolution continued with chart-topping releases such as "El último clásico" (2019) and "Diario de una tregua" (2022). Amid the pandemic, he adapted by touring Spain alongside poet Gabriel Sopeña, blending music with poetry in innovative performances. Today, Loquillo remains an enduring force in Spanish rock, supported by a talented band including Igor Paskual and Josu García. His ongoing contributions continue to shape and inspire the landscape of Spanish music culture.
