About George Harrison

George Harrison, born in Liverpool in 1943, emerged as a quietly influential figure in rock music, earning the nickname "The Quiet One" during Beatlemania for his reserved presence. Initially overshadowed by the prolific Lennon-McCartney duo, Harrison played a crucial role in shaping The Beatles' evolving sound. His distinctive jangly Rickenbacker guitar style was central to defining albums like "Help!" and "Rubber Soul," blending early rock influences with innovative tones that inspired generations of power-pop artists.

Harrison’s deep fascination with Indian music and Eastern philosophy transformed Western pop culture. He introduced the sitar into The Beatles’ work, expanding their sonic palette and ushering in their psychedelic phase. His profound songwriting contributions include "Within You, Without You," "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," and the timeless "Something," which attracted admirers like Frank Sinatra for its elegant composition.

After The Beatles disbanded, Harrison’s solo career took off with the ambitious triple album "All Things Must Pass" (1970), a sweeping blend of musical grandeur and spiritual reflection. He further demonstrated his humanitarian spirit through the landmark "Concert for Bangladesh" (1971), a pioneering charity event that set a precedent for future benefit concerts.
