About Cuco

Omar Banos, professionally known as Cuco, is a self-taught American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Hawthorne, California. He first gained attention with his 2016 self-released EP, "Wannabewithu," which featured the viral singles "Lover is a Day" and "Amor de Siempre." Building on this momentum, Cuco’s 2017 breakthrough single "Lo Que Siento" allowed him to leave college and fully dedicate himself to his music career.

In 2019, Cuco signed with Interscope Records and released his debut studio album, "Para Mi," which highlighted his signature blend of dreamy indie pop and Chicano soul influences. His second album, "Fantasy Gateway" (2022), produced by Manuel Lara, received critical praise for its polished sound, with Pitchfork applauding its fresh and refined qualities. Continuing to evolve his artistry, Cuco dropped the "Hitchhiker" EP in late 2023.

Most recently, in early 2025, Cuco released the romantic single "ICNBYH" ("I Can Never Break Your Heart"). Produced by Tom Brenneck—known for collaborating with legends like Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse—the track features artists such as Alex Garcia, Sal Samano of Thee Sacred Souls, and members of The Roots. This release exemplifies Cuco’s talent for bridging musical cultures and generations while crafting emotive narratives centered on love and heartache. His music remains a vibrant, evolving reflection of his Chicano heritage and the broader Southern California soundscape.
