About Ratt

Ratt, formed in 1982 by lead vocalist and songwriter Stephen Pearcy, stands as a cornerstone of the 1980s Sunset Strip metal scene. Originally hailing from San Diego, Pearcy reunited with guitarist Robbin Crosby before relocating to Los Angeles, where the band spent over a year refining their sound in local clubs. Their self-titled six-song EP, released in 1983, featured the standout track "You Think You’re Tough," which gained heavy rotation on influential L.A. radio stations KMET and KLOS, propelling the EP to over 100,000 sales.

In 1984, Ratt signed with Atlantic Records and dropped their breakthrough album, "Out of the Cellar," which achieved triple Platinum status. The album spawned major hits like "Round & Round," "Back for More," and "Wanted Man," catapulting the band to international stardom. The classic lineup—consisting of Pearcy, Crosby, guitarist Warren DeMartini, bassist Juan Croucier, and drummer Bobby Blotzer—became synonymous with the glam metal genre that defined a generation. Ratt toured globally, sharing stages with icons such as Billy Squier and Ozzy Osbourne before securing their place as headline arena acts.

Over the decades, Ratt has sold more than 15 million records in the United States alone, with their first four albums earning Platinum certification. Their enduring blend of hard rock and glam metal continues to resonate, keeping them active and relevant in the rock scene today.
