About Toto

Formed in Los Angeles in 1978, Toto brought together a group of highly skilled session musicians, including David Paich, Steve Lukather, Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro, David Hungate, and Jeff Porcaro. Many members hailed from musical families, with Paich being the son of celebrated arranger Marty Paich and the Porcaro brothers sons of renowned percussionist Joe Porcaro. Before forming the band, these musicians had already worked with legends such as George Benson and Boz Scaggs, lending their talents to countless studio sessions.

Toto’s self-titled debut album (1978) quickly made waves, propelled by the gold-certified hit "Hold the Line," which entered the Top Ten. However, the band achieved its greatest commercial and critical success with 1982’s *Toto IV*, a multi-platinum release featuring iconic tracks like "Africa," "Rosanna," and "I Won’t Hold You Back." The album earned six Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Record of the Year for "Rosanna," cementing Toto’s place in rock history.

Over the decades, Toto navigated lineup changes and hardships, notably the untimely passing of drummer Jeff Porcaro in 1992. Despite these challenges, the band sustained their influence, particularly in Japan and Europe, with albums such as *Fahrenheit* (1986), *Tambu* (1995), *Mindfields* (1999), and a comeback with *Toto XIV* (2015), released shortly after the death of bassist Mike Porcaro. Known for blending rock, pop, and sophisticated musicianship, Toto remains an enduring force that has left an indelible mark on the global music landscape.
