About Finale

Detroit rapper Finale carved a distinct path in hip-hop by emerging from one of the genre’s most competitive and vibrant scenes. Early in his career, he sharpened his skills alongside influential artists like Guilty Simpson and One Be Lo. A pivotal moment came when he connected with legendary producer J Dilla, an experience that inspired Finale to leave his job as an automotive engineer and fully dedicate himself to music.

Finale first gained attention in 2004 with a feature on B.R. Gunna’s "Dirty District, Vol. 2," which led to collaborations with respected figures such as Invincible and Dabrye. His contribution to Dabrye’s critically acclaimed 2006 album "Two/Three" showcased his versatility within Detroit’s underground hip-hop community. In 2007, he partnered with producer Spier 1200 to release "Develop" through Rawkus 50, a project that further cemented his reputation. Subsequent features included Invincible’s "Shapeshifters" and the "Megatron Majorz" mixtape by Vandalyzm, along with his single "Don’t Sleep" featuring Black Milk.

Finale’s debut solo album, "Pipe Dream and a Promise" (2009), stood out not only for its lyrical depth but also for its innovative promotion via an online game inspired by Super Mario Bros. After a hiatus to focus on family, he returned in 2015 with "Odds & Ends," a collaborative album with producer Oddisee. This project featured guest appearances by Homeboy Sandman and Big Tone, reaffirming Finale’s enduring relevance and creative resilience in hip-hop.
